We had another successful dinner night and many thanks to all that helped. We sure do have a lot of fun in the kitchen. We made a profit of $425.22 after expenses. Check out the calendar as we have some rides coming up. Our next meeting is April 19 at 2 pm. We will finalize the officer selection and discuss rides and the upcoming Peony parade. It was pointed out after conferring with the Post Executive Board that we must have a vote for the office of Membership since it is an elected position and part of the chapter executive board. I truly appologize for the misconception I caused. I was out of order. The following positions are elected: Director, Assit Director, Treasurer, Secretary, Membership, and Sgt of Arms. Those positions appointed by the Director are Historian, Ride Coordinator, Chaplian, and Quartermaster.
An election will be administratered for one position for the office of Membership. Those conveying for the office are David Shanner Sr., and Shari Brooks. Best of luck to you both.
Hope to see you at the meeting

The American Legion Auxillary is also please for our work as we donated $250 to support a Girl's State nominee. Thanks again Riders for your continued effort and hard work in support of the many Legion programs. Check out the calendar for upcoming events and rides.

Chapter 178 met for their monthly meeting at the post. Main business was to decide what to have as the main course for our Tuesday night dinner in December. We will be having Lasagna. Please let me know if you can assist in the preparation of the meal as those that assisted in the past are not available this time do to vacation conflicts at work. Also dicussed was food baskets for the less fortionate vets in our community. A motion was made and carried to donate $300 to the post for the food baskets. The money will actually be going, by direction of the Post Excutive Committee, in support of fruit baskets for the nursing home vets as the food baskets are already funded. Bob and Shari gave us an update on the Casino Bus Trip. All seats are sold, but still taking names for those that need to back out. Good turn out this time.
Hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving. Hope to see you all at the December 21 meeting.

Chapter 178 met for their monthly meeting at the post today. Discuss the Tuesday night dinner coming up on December 30. Ideas presented were Soup and Sandwich, Beefstew or Potroast with Mash potatoes, or Stirfry. The meal will be decided in our November meeting. Also discussed was the upcoming Casino Bus Trip on Jan 17, 2015. Flyers were handed out to begin the advertisement. The cost again will be $35/person. Cost includes $20 worth of Casino bucks, a $5 food voucher, and guarantee fun. The Legion Riders passed 2 motion in support of programs beyond the present Scholarship program. In 2015 the Chapter agreed to donate $500 to the Gift for Yanks project and plan a Poler Run which the proceeds will benefit the American Legion Riders Legacy Fund. The Legacy Run for 2015 will be Aug 23 to Aug28, 2015, from Indianapolis, IN to Baltimore, MD for those that might be interested in making the run.
I can't think our members enough for another successful year as without your time and support of our programs, none of this would be possible.

Congratulations Riders for a job well done. We surpassed our set goal of the $2000 coming in at $3,980. I want to thank everyone for their efforts in acheiving this milestone. This is our second endevor and both times we have raised the bar for ourselves. I am proud to be part of the American Legion, and especially proud to be an American Legion Riders of Isaac Van Wert Post 178. I believe that the sky is truly the limit with this group.
I want to especially thank 2 ticket selling maniacs in Sharri and Larry for their efforts were huge in the success of the Mega Money give-a-way. The more they sold the less I had to. I don't mean to be condensending, its just I don't do well selling tickets. Larry did coach me on his delivery so I will give it a try in future ticket sells.
I also want to thank the committees as there time spent in prep meeting and their presences were huge in the success of the event. I can't thank you all enough. We had some lessons learned and next year will be less stressful and more fun.

September 13 the Riders will be hosting a party at the post that includes a Poker Run followed by a Mega Money Give Away amassing to the amount of $3000 (only 300 tickets being sold). The party is only just beginning at this point of the night. From 6 - 10 pm the band Decade will entertain us with music from the 50's and 60's. We will also have a meal consisting of Hamburger or Hot Dog with coleslaw, MacSalad, and baked beans. Get the word out as this could prove to be our only needed fund raiser.
The money give away will be as follows:
A drawing will take place every 15 minutes from 6 pm to 8:30 pm.
At the hours of 6, 7, and 8 the drawing will be for $300.
At each quarter hour the drawing will be for $100
At 8:15 and 8:30, the last two drawings of the night, the drawings will be for [email protected]
This one event will make our funds for the year.
There will be tickets for everyone at the meeting.
